[Breaking] Path Opened for Reinvestigation of Brothers' Home for the Disabled 'Illegal Detention and Forced Labor'... Public Administration Committee Approves Past Affairs Act
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] The amendment to the Act on the Investigation of Past Incidents for Truth and Reconciliation (Past Incidents Act) passed the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee plenary session on the 19th.
If the bill passes the plenary session, the Past Incidents Investigation Committee, which ended its activities in 2010, will be reactivated. The scope of investigation will be expanded from the Japanese colonial period to the authoritarian rule era, allowing investigations into cases such as the Busan Hyeongjebokjiwon incident and the 6·25 civilian massacre.
