Vietnamese Charged for Inviting Acquaintances Home for Meal While Violating Self-Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] A Vietnamese man who invited a friend to his home for a meal during his self-quarantine period for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has been referred to the prosecution.
The Goheung Police Station in Jeollanam-do announced on the 19th that they sent Vietnamese national A (34) to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on charges of violating the self-quarantine order (violation of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act).
A, who entered Korea from Vietnam on the 24th of last month, received an administrative self-quarantine order from Goheung County.
On the afternoon of the 25th, the second day of his self-quarantine, A invited acquaintance B, who is of the same nationality, to his home for a meal and was caught by health authorities.
The police booked A without detention, investigated him, and then sent him to the Suncheon branch of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office with a recommendation for indictment.
According to the police, both A and B tested negative for COVID-19.
