Gidae-seo, Gwangju Buk-gu Council Member: "Yongbong-dong Trick Art Project Is a Showy Administration"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Gi Daeseo, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu Council (Jungheung 1, 2, 3-dong, Sinan-dong, Im-dong, Jungang-dong), recently demanded correction, stating that the Trick Art project on Yongbong-dong Fashion Street is a typical example of showy administration during the 2nd plenary session of the 261st extraordinary meeting.
Councilor Gi stated, “The installation project of Trick Art on Yongbong-dong Fashion Street is far removed from the purpose of revitalizing the specialized shopping district, and about 10 Trick Art pieces, which have been completed for less than a year, are severely damaged,” adding, “It is hard to believe that the construction, including sidewalk maintenance, was done with a budget of about 100 million won.”
He continued, “The Trick Art project failed three times during the bidding process,” emphasizing, “The labor cost item in the project budget statement was poorly prepared, and the project implementation was not smooth, raising many doubts about the project.”
Additionally, he pointed out, “There are procedural problems with the Yongbong-ro pedestrian environment improvement project,” and criticized, “Pursuing the project without prior reporting to the council is contrary to the district mayor’s claim of councilism.”
