"Easy-to-Understand Hanok Lecture" Seoul City, 2020 'Hanok Architecture Class' First-Come, First-Served Enrollment
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the nonprofit organization Munhwa Daum announced on the 18th that they will operate the Citizen Hanok School 'Hanok Architecture Class' for residents of hanok houses and citizens interested in hanok. The Hanok Architecture Class will be held every Saturday for six weeks from the 23rd of this month to the 27th of next month.
This program consists of theoretical lectures (5 sessions) covering the latest trends in urban-type hanok and cases of urban regeneration activation using the hanok platform, as well as a hanok field trip (1 session) in Bukchon with a professional hanok architect.
The theoretical lectures are divided into introduction, hanok design, and spatial composition, with experts such as architects in each field giving lectures that are easy for beginners to understand. The sessions will be conducted by Jo Jeong-gu, CEO of Guga Urban Architecture, Professor Kim Sang-hyeop of Myongji University Hanok Technology Development Research Group, Kang Seong-won, CEO of Kang Hee-jae Architectural Office, No Kyung-rok, CEO of Z-Lab, and Professor Yoon Jae-shin (Department of Architecture, Ewha Womans University). After the theoretical lectures, participants will have the opportunity to tour hanok houses in Bukchon, a representative hanok-dense area in Seoul, together with a professional hanok architect. The tour will be led by Kim Jang-kwon, CEO of Bukchon HRC.
The Hanok Architecture Class is open to anyone aged 18 or older and is free of charge. To ensure smooth lecture progress, enrollment is limited to 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted through the announcements on the Seoul Hanok Portal website.
