View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Bo-ryeong] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) related to clubs in Itaewon, Seoul increased by 2 on the 17th, bringing the total to 168.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH), as of 12 noon on the same day, out of the 168 confirmed cases related to the clubs, 89 people were confirmed to have directly visited the Itaewon clubs. The remaining 79 were identified as contacts such as family members, acquaintances, and colleagues of these individuals.
By age group, those aged 19 to 29 were the largest at 102 people. This was followed by 27 people in their 30s, 17 people aged 18 or younger, 11 people in their 40s, 6 people in their 50s, and 5 people aged 60 or older.
By region, most cases were in the Seoul metropolitan area with 93 in Seoul, 33 in Gyeonggi, and 23 in Incheon. The rest were 9 in Chungbuk, 4 in Busan, and 1 each in Chungnam, Daejeon, Jeonbuk, Gyeongnam, Gangwon, and Jeju. Among the 9 confirmed cases in Chungbuk, 8 were related to the Army Cadet Military School in Goesan, Chungbuk, a military quarantine facility.
By gender, 136 were male and 32 were female.

Jung Eun-kyung, head of the CDCH, emphasized at the regular briefing held at the Osong Disease Control Headquarters in Chungbuk on the same day, "Those who visited clubs, pubs, etc. in Itaewon, Seoul from the 24th of last month to the 6th of this month should refrain from going out and visit screening clinics for diagnostic testing regardless of symptoms," adding, "Those working in facilities used by many people such as educational facilities, religious facilities, indoor sports facilities, and medical institutions are at very high risk of infection spread, so please be sure to get tested."
