Gyeongbuk Online Shopping 'Sale Festa' Gains Popularity... Surpasses 4 Billion Won in One Week
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 15th that the sales of the 'Gyeongbuk Sale Festa,' launched on the 1st of this month on Coupang, Wemakeprice, Tmon, Post Office Shopping, and Gongyoung Shopping, reached 4.1 billion KRW in the first week of May (1st?7th).
In particular, the online shopping mall event was a huge success, with the number of participating companies doubling from about 500 at launch to 1,285 within a week.
Gyeongbuk Province analyzed that this result was due to a promotional strategy focusing on viral marketing, which differentiated itself from traditional offline promotions by producing separate promotional images and videos for 'Sale Festa' and distributing them through YouTube, KakaoTalk, Naver Band, mom cafes, Instagram, etc., effectively responding to the non-face-to-face trend amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reflecting Statistics Korea's online shopping trends showing a 66.1% increase in shopping sales of agricultural and livestock products and food and beverages in March this year compared to the previous year, Gyeongbuk Province composed representative products that aligned with consumer purchasing trends, resulting in favorable outcomes.
The product composition strategy tailored to each shopping mall's characteristics and the use of Coupang's Rocket Delivery for agricultural product shipments also matched consumer trends. Especially, as the first local government to collaborate with Coupang, Gyeongbuk swiftly delivered its representative agricultural products via Rocket Delivery, aligning perfectly with the trend of fast delivery.
Starting in June, after the Sale Festa ends, Gyeongbuk Province plans to continuously implement support policies that can enhance corporate brand awareness through the 'Embracing Gyeongsangbuk-do' series, which aligns with the seasonal themes of Gyeongsangbuk-do.
