Johnny Depp's Ex-Wives Issue Statement: "He Is Not a Violent Person"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Joo-hee] Hollywood actor Johnny Depp is currently engaged in a legal battle with his ex-wife Amber Heard, and actresses Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis, who were previously married to him, have issued statements in support of Johnny Depp.
On the 14th (local time), the American media outlet Variety reported that the two stated, "Johnny Depp was never violent during his time with us," and released a statement defending him.
The statements from the two are said to be witness testimonies related to a defamation trial against the media outlet The Sun, which described Johnny Depp as a "wife-beating husband."
Vanessa Paradis said in her statement, "I have known Johnny for over 25 years. We were partners for 14 years and raised two children together. During that time, I knew Johnny as a kind, attentive, generous, and non-violent father," adding, "He never treated me violently or abused me."
Winona Ryder said, "I cannot hide my criticism of Amber Heard. He was never violent toward me. He never verbally abused me."
In response, Amber Heard's side reportedly stated, "We are glad that the two did not have the same experience as Amber Heard. However, one woman's experience does not determine another woman's experience."
