Sambu Construction Wins Grand Prize in Comprehensive Construction Category at the 2020 Eco-Friendly Management Awards
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Sambutogeon, known as the ‘Construction Master’ and holder of South Korea’s first construction license, won the Grand Prize in the comprehensive construction category at the ‘2020 Eco-friendly Management Awards’.
Sambutogeon announced on the 15th that it received the Grand Prize in the comprehensive construction category at the ‘2nd 2020 Eco-friendly Management Awards’ hosted by the Chosun Ilbo and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This award is recognized as a result of all executives and employees leading nature-friendly management and making continuous efforts to prevent pollution. In particular, the award ceremony held on the 14th was especially meaningful as it coincided with Sambutogeon’s 72nd anniversary.
Since its founding on May 14, 1948, Sambutogeon has taken pride as the ‘No. 1 licensed construction company in South Korea,’ striving for future construction based on a creative spirit of challenge, and has established and actively implemented eco-friendly management policies.
So far, Sambutogeon has actively complied with the requirements of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and has built an environmental management system.
To manage construction environments in line with low-carbon green growth policies, the company is applying and developing the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System company-wide. It has creatively established and implemented systems such as the designation of environmental managers for each site and the preparation and management of environmental compliance schedules, leading the establishment and practice of environmental management systems.
Additionally, as part of fulfilling social responsibility, Sambutogeon conducts environmental volunteer activities centered around its headquarters and sites, such as cleaning nearby rivers and roads around construction sites, playing a significant role in improving environmental awareness among local residents.
Furthermore, Sambutogeon, which researches and develops new environmental technologies and construction methods and applies them on-site, has investigated the applicability of HEET (a wastewater treatment method using ionized gases) for landfill leachate and sewage/livestock wastewater treatment, applying it to sewage treatment facilities to enhance advanced sewage treatment efficiency. At the same time, it has filed a patent for a soft ground improvement method that prevents water and soil pollution caused by additives in existing methods, contributing to shortening construction periods and reducing cost rates.
Moreover, through continuous site environmental management and special guidance inspections, Sambutogeon prevents environmental accidents in advance and spreads best practices to all construction sites, promoting sharing among local governments, public clients, and construction companies to realize eco-friendly construction sites.
Lee Eunggeun, CEO of Sambutogeon, said, "As the first licensed construction company in South Korea, we will continue to research tirelessly and make persistent efforts with an active spirit of challenge to become a top construction company, building better future spaces where humans and the environment coexist."
