Chungnam, First Joint Consulting for Pilot Areas of Resident Autonomy Associations
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 15th that it recently conducted the first joint consulting session for residents and responsible public officials of pilot areas for Residents' Autonomy Associations at the provincial government Cultural Center.
The Residents' Autonomy Association consulting is conducted in the first year of being selected as a pilot site for the Chungnam-type Residents' Autonomy Association to provide consulting support to local residents and closely manage the entire process of transitioning to a Residents' Autonomy Association.
The first joint consulting was carried out targeting Jeongsan-myeon in Gongju City, Daecheon 4-dong in Boryeong City, Sindoan-myeon in Gyeryong City, and Jeongsan-myeon in Cheongyang County, which are managed by the Social Innovation Research Institute Cooperative.
During the consulting, the methods for recruiting Residents' Autonomy Committee members and the schedule for the Residents' Autonomy Association were discussed, and an agreement was reached to hold a residents' general meeting within the year.

An official from the province stated, “The consulting was organized as an opportunity to lay the foundation for sustainable development of the Residents' Autonomy Association through the selection of committee members and enhancement of their autonomy capabilities,” and added, “We will spare no support to ensure that the nine pilot sites selected this year can settle as representative organizations of myeon and dong residents.”
