View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 14th that over 200 public officials, members of institutions and social organizations, and residents' autonomy committees conducted a rural labor assistance activity on the 13th to mark the beginning of the busy farming season.
The county launched a large-scale rural labor assistance effort centered on public officials to address the shortage of labor in rural areas caused by the aging farming population and the prolonged impact of COVID-19.
The more than 200 volunteers who participated that day worked hard supporting various tasks in seven work sites, including weeding and seedbed rice sowing, in preparation for the upcoming farming season.
The farmers who received labor support expressed their gratitude, saying, "Labor shortage during the busy farming season was a big concern, but thanks to the public officials and members of institutions and social organizations who came to the field and helped diligently, we were able to overcome a critical period."

A representative from the Jindo-gun Agricultural Support Division said, "We are glad to be able to provide even a small help to farmers struggling with labor shortages due to rural population decline and the prolonged COVID-19 situation," adding, "We will focus administrative efforts on preparing various support measures to ensure farmers' smooth farming activities."
