Joseon Dynasty's Five Grand Palaces Character Design Contest

View original imageThe Cultural Heritage Administration's Palace and Royal Tombs Headquarters and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation announced on the 14th that they are holding a character design contest representing the five major Joseon palaces (Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung, Changgyeonggung, Gyeonghuigung) until July 31. The themes are ‘Characters you want to meet at the palace’ and ‘Characters protecting our palaces.’ The contest is divided into a student category (high school and university students or those on leave) and a general category (all ages except the student category).
Both individuals and groups (up to 3 members) can participate. Applicants must submit an application form and one basic design plus three applied design images that meet the specifications on the contest website. Entries must be original creations with no prior submission history and must comply with copyright law and other related regulations.

Winners will be selected through expert judging and public voting. The grand prize winner will receive the Cultural Heritage Administration Commissioner’s Award and a cash prize of 3 million KRW. The winning works, along with other awarded entries, will be exhibited at the Palace Culture Festival opening on October 10. The characters will also be developed into merchandise to promote palace utilization projects. For more details, please refer to the contest website.
