Omission of Large-Scale Commemorative Events

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Education announced on the 14th that it will present awards and commendations to 2,983 teachers in celebration of the 39th Teachers' Day.
This year, in accordance with government event operation guidelines, large-scale commemorative events for Teachers' Day will be omitted. Instead, the Ministry of Education will delegate the authority to present awards to heads of affiliated institutions, awarding government honors to 229 individuals and commendations from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education to 2,754 individuals.
The Teachers' Day commemorative merit awards target teachers who have made significant contributions to educational activities at domestic elementary, middle, high, and special schools, universities, and overseas educational institutions. This year, a total of 10 recipients will receive the Republic of Korea Teacher Award, which includes a decoration (medal or order) and a cash prize. The Order of Service Merit, Red Stripes will be awarded to Min Kyung-chan, Director of Planning at the Chungbuk Office of Education, for his contribution to the activation of professional learning communities, and to Shin Dong-pil, a teacher at Hanyoung High School who founded the Dongpil Scholarship Association and provided scholarship certificates.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education will share a Teachers' Day commemorative gratitude relay video message produced together with the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education, as well as a video featuring prominent figures from society recalling and expressing their gratitude to teachers.
