The total donation amount is about 42 million won. This money will be used to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnated due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, and to support vulnerable groups.
The city plans to first deliver daily necessities purchased from local traditional markets to nine social welfare facilities in need of support.
Earlier, Pohang city officials donated 24.94 million won in March to Daegu City, and around the same time, employees of city-invested and affiliated institutions collected part of their salaries to donate about 119 million won to the Red Cross with designated use.
