[Golf Topic] KLPGA Championship "Record-Breaking 72 Media Outlets Covering"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] ○…'72 domestic and international media outlets.'
The number of media outlets covering the KLPGA Tour KLPGA Championship (total prize money 3 billion won), held on the 14th at Lakewood Golf Course (par 72) in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province. On the 12th, the KLPGA Tour announced, "The number of media outlets that applied for coverage reached as many as 72." Although applications have closed, the number could increase if additional applications are accepted. Jinwoo Park, head of the Strategic Marketing Team, added, "There has never been this many media outlets at a KLPGA Tour event."
This is because major tours worldwide have been halted due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The KLPGA Championship is the first to be held, attracting domestic and international attention. Most domestic newspapers, broadcasters, and online media have completed their applications. There are as many as 12 broadcasting companies stating they will bring ENG cameras. Global news agencies such as AP and AFP, sports photo agency Getty Images, Japan's Fuji TV, and Japan Golf Digest have also joined.

The KLPGA is planning efficient support measures in response to the enthusiasm exceeding expectations. Although the prepared press room had only about 60 seats, additional space is being secured. Since it is not easy to suddenly expand the interview room size, they are also considering holding press conferences outdoors. The press corps are required to fill out health questionnaires daily and have their temperatures taken before entering the press room. Player interviews are conducted at a distance, and attendance for watching the games is allowed only in a limited manner.
