Jeonnam Province Ranks 'No.1 Nationwide' for 12 Consecutive Months in Resident Life Satisfaction Survey
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province (Governor Kim Young-rok) has achieved the remarkable feat of ranking first nationwide for 12 consecutive months in the resident life satisfaction survey.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 12th, an analysis of data from Realmeter, a public opinion research specialist agency, showed that in last month's resident life satisfaction survey of 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide, Jeonnam recorded a satisfaction rate of 72.9%, up 3.7 percentage points from the March survey, ranking first.
Gyeonggi Province followed with 67.4%, and Jeju Province with 66.6%.
The average resident life satisfaction rate across all 17 cities and provinces was 58.9%, which is 2.5 percentage points higher than in March (56.4%).
The province has maintained the top position continuously since May last year when it first ranked first with 62.9%.
The high resident life satisfaction in Jeonnam Province is attributed to Governor Kim Young-rok’s prompt response to COVID-19, resulting in the lowest number of confirmed cases per 100,000 people (0.8), thereby establishing a ‘clean Jeonnam’ image, and implementing various support measures to alleviate difficulties faced by vulnerable groups, rural farming and fishing communities, and businesses.
Notably, the introduction of the farmers and fishermen’s public interest allowance to compensate for the public value of rural areas, securing the first nationwide budget for agricultural product price and supply stabilization projects, expanding tailored support for the elderly, disabled, and low-income groups, increasing startup and business stabilization funds for small business owners, and implementing Zero Pay in Jeonnam are among the tangible happiness policies that stood out.
Additionally, various initiatives such as the New Millennium Talent Development Project, improvement of rural cultural welfare services, and expansion of senior job programs attracted attention.
