The meeting was attended by about 20 people, including Hwang Suk-ju, the governor of Sunchang-gun, Lee Seok-ha, director of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Seoul National University, related researchers, and public officials.
Since November 2018, the county has signed a business agreement with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Seoul National University and is developing high-quality soybean varieties suitable for the Sunchang climate.
The reason Sunchang-gun embarked on soybean seed development is to complement the shortcomings of the existing Daewon soybean and to differentiate the soybean varieties, which are the most fundamental, in order to complete Sunchang-gun's own premium jangryu (fermented sauce) products.
At the reporting session, the research project explanation and the performance verification process of two types of yellow soybeans and one type of green soybean were mainly discussed. Demonstration tests on mechanical harvesting and multiple harvest potential compared to the existing Daewon soybean, purchasing and distribution aspects of the green color, and yield increase effects under normal harvest conditions were also discussed.
