Volkswagen Wins 5 Design Awards at Automotive Brand Contest
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Volkswagen announced on the 12th that it has been honored with five design awards at the international design competition 'Automotive Brand Contest 2020.'
Volkswagen's flagship electric vehicle ID.3 was selected as Best of Best in two categories: exterior and interior design. The new 8th generation Golf, an icon of hatchbacks first unveiled at the end of 2019, and the seventh model of the pure electric ID. family, the ID. SPACE VIZZION concept car, were also named winners this year. The official awards ceremony is scheduled to be held this fall in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Established in 2011 by the German Design Council, the Automotive Brand Contest is an independent international design competition targeting automobile brands.
At this competition, the ID.3 won the top titles in the 'Exterior Volume Brand' and 'Interior Volume Brand' categories. The judges stated, "The ID.3 boasts curved design while harmoniously arranging tight lines to give a strong presence, and it demonstrates excellent consistency between interior and exterior design."
Klaus Bischoff, Head of Design at Volkswagen Group, said, "For us, the ID.3 symbolizes the dawn of a new era of mobility and heralds the arrival of the digital design era that virtually creates the best user experience using advanced techniques."

The new 8th generation Golf was also selected as a winning model in the 'Exterior Volume Brand' and 'Interior Volume Brand' categories, while the ID. family’s pure electric concept car, the ID. SPACE VIZZION, was recognized as a winner in the concept car category for its aerodynamic design and spacious interior.
