Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hold Online Launch Ceremony for 'East Asia-Latin America Cooperation Forum National Delegation' on the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 12th that it plans to hold the inauguration ceremony of the East Asia-Latin America Cooperation Forum (FEALAC) National Delegation online via video conference on the 15th to promote diplomacy with Latin America together with the public.
FEALAC is an interregional dialogue body launched in 1999 aimed at promoting cooperation and mutual understanding between East Asia and Latin America. It consists of a total of 36 member countries, and the Korean government hosted the Cyber Secretariat in 2011.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to hold this inauguration ceremony online via video conference and plans to carry out offline activities in line with the "social distancing in daily life" policy.
The FEALAC National Delegation is a public participation group formed to promote FEALAC activities and cooperation projects with Latin American countries this year, consisting of a total of 36 members. Over the next six months, they will conduct online and offline activities such as hosting public talk concerts and producing videos and card news, contributing to raising public awareness of FEALAC and Korea's diplomacy with Latin America.
Additionally, as their first official schedule, the National Delegation will participate in the Tuesday Latin Square event starting on the 19th, where they will share vivid stories from director Jeon Huseok about the history of Korean migration in Cuba. Based on this, they plan to prepare for various events related to the 100th anniversary of Korean migration to Cuba in 2021.

An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained, "Taking this FEALAC National Delegation as an opportunity, we plan to continue promoting diplomacy with Latin America while communicating with the public in accordance with the new normal of 'daily quarantine'."
