LG Group Cancels First Half Business Report Meeting Considering COVID-19 Emergency Management System
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LG Group has decided not to hold its business briefing session for the first half of this year, considering the emergency management system due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 12th, an LG Group official stated, “Due to the rapidly changing business environment, major strategic directions for each affiliate are being discussed frequently, so the first half business briefing will not be held separately.”
However, the official added, “The second half business briefing is scheduled to be held as usual around October to November.”
LG Group’s business briefing sessions are strategic meetings for each affiliate chaired by Koo Kwang-mo, Chairman of LG Group. Typically, the first half briefing is held in May, and the second half briefing takes place between October and November.
The first half briefing mainly discusses mid- to long-term strategies, while the second half reviews the year’s performance and covers business plans for the following year.
By canceling the first half briefing, LG Group plans to maintain its COVID-19 emergency management system, focus on responses to various situations, and prepare post-COVID-19 plans.
Earlier, at the LG Corporation shareholders’ meeting held on March 27, Chairman Koo stated, “Due to the global spread of COVID-19, an uncertain business environment continues,” adding, “We will focus on risk management and continue unwavering challenges with customer value as our top priority.”
