On the afternoon of the 11th, on Channel A's entertainment program 'Rumor Has It' (Pungmun Show), Park Yoo-chun appeared and said, "I wanted to take time to ask for forgiveness. But honestly, even that required a lot of courage. I hesitated to muster the courage and only spent time worrying," he said.
During the broadcast, Park Yoo-chun shared his recent life, saying, "I mostly spend time at home with my family," and added, "When I have complicated thoughts, I often go hiking."
Park Yoo-chun said, "I was worried that by apologizing, people might think I’m just apologizing to ease my own conscience when they see me."
He continued, "During the period of reflection, I often thought, 'The desire to apologize is something I have to carry in my heart for life.' I couldn’t easily decide to face the public. I have many regrets. I wish I had done it sooner."
He added, "Not long ago, after watching a broadcast about me on 'Pungmun Show,' I thought deeply and it became an opportunity to consider, 'What if I apologize?' Rather than just worrying and not making a decision, I thought I should courageously prepare a chance to apologize."
Regarding his future plans, he said, "For the fans who are criticized just for supporting me, I will really try to live my life earnestly. If I live sincerely and truthfully without giving up on the future, I hope there will come a time when the public will recognize me. That is my hope."
Finally, he said, "I am truly very sorry. I think an apology is everything. It is also a promise to myself, and I want to firmly say that I will never repeat the same mistake again."
Previously, Park Yoo-chun was prosecuted in April last year on charges of methamphetamine use and was sentenced to 10 months in prison with a 2-year probation. At that time, he announced his retirement from the entertainment industry amid the controversy over drug use.
