United Future Party: "Jeong Seong-ho, who visited entertainment venues during COVID-19, must relinquish his elected status"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The United Future Party fiercely attacked Jeong Seong-ho, the elected member of the Democratic Party of Korea (Gyeonggi Yangju City), who has come under controversy for visiting entertainment establishments during the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) phase, demanding that he "resign his status as an elected member."
Jang Neung-in, the full-time deputy spokesperson of the United Future Party, criticized on the 11th through a statement, saying, "One cannot help but ask whether there is any concern for the safety of not only the citizens of Yangju but also the people of the Republic of Korea."
The controversy arose after reports surfaced that Representative Jeong visited an entertainment establishment in the Uijeongbu area on the 8th.
Deputy Spokesperson Jang said, "At a time when public concern is growing over a second large-scale epidemic due to a confirmed COVID-19 patient visiting an Itaewon entertainment establishment, Representative Jeong Seong-ho's actions are inappropriate as a member of the ruling party's National Assembly," adding, "Instead of making excuses like 'I went in and came out immediately,' Representative Jeong should reflect on his own responsibility and immediately resign his status as an elected member."
