Due to the impact of COVID-19, the Gwangju Biennale postponed to February next year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the 13th Gwangju Biennale, originally scheduled to be held this September, has been postponed to February next year.
The Gwangju Biennale Foundation announced on the 10th that the Gwangju Biennale will be postponed by about six months and held for 73 days from February 26 to May 9 next year. The Gwangju Biennale was originally scheduled to take place from September 4 to November 29 this year.
This is the second time the Gwangju Biennale has been postponed, following the 3rd edition in 2000. The 3rd edition was originally planned for 1999 but was postponed by one year to 2000 to emphasize the significance of the new millennium.
The foundation explained that the postponement was decided to ensure a high-quality exhibition for the large-scale international event of the Gwangju Biennale amid the global spread of COVID-19.
