Daejeon Increases 'Voucher Taxi' Fleet by 90 Vehicles... Available for Pregnant Women Too
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 10th that starting from the 11th, it will increase the number of voucher taxis by 90, operating a total of 150 vehicles. Voucher taxis normally operate as regular taxis but prioritize transporting transportation-vulnerable individuals such as people with disabilities when they call.
Following the increase in voucher taxis, the city will expand the eligibility for voucher taxi use to include pregnant women and extend operating hours to weekdays from 4 a.m. to midnight.
Use of voucher taxis is possible by registering as a member at the Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Support Center and applying via phone or application (app).
The fare is set at a base rate of 1,000 KRW for the first 3 km, with an additional 100 KRW charged for every 440 meters thereafter. This is about 30% of the regular taxi fare.
In Daejeon, in addition to voucher taxis, 82 specially equipped vehicles that can accommodate wheelchairs and 90 taxis exclusively for transportation-vulnerable individuals are currently operating to provide mobility convenience to local transportation-vulnerable residents.
