Volvo Trucks Resumes Operations at Production Plants in Sweden and Belgium
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Volvo Trucks, which experienced disruptions in the global supply chain due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), announced on the 8th that it will resume operations at its Sweden and Belgium factories starting early May.
Since mid-March, economic activities in the European region came to a halt due to the spread of COVID-19, causing almost all automobile manufacturing plants in Europe, including Volvo Trucks, to shut down. From early May, Volvo Trucks plans to restart production at its factories in Sweden and Belgium and gradually consider resuming production at other regional plants.
A Volvo Trucks official stated, "Considering various factors such as the truck market conditions by country, the status of partners and supply chains, we plan to gradually resume production at other regional factories as well."
Going forward, Volvo Trucks will continue its efforts to ensure that transportation operators can maintain stable truck operations to transport goods essential for the operation of systems across society.
Meanwhile, Volvo Trucks Korea has been supporting customers by operating all 31 service networks nationwide normally to prevent any impact on their business. Even during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the 24-hour Volvo Action Service and call center have continued normal operations to ensure smooth logistics.
Park Kang-seok, CEO of Volvo Trucks Korea, said, "It is our responsibility and duty to provide comprehensive support so that the truck industry can fulfill its social role even amid the COVID-19 crisis," adding, "Volvo Trucks Korea will spare no effort in supporting customers to ensure that stable logistics transportation continues to play a central role in society."
