[Concall] SK Telecom Focuses on Synergy Creation from SKB-T-Broad Merger in Response to Additional M&A Questions
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] SK Telecom expressed a cautious stance on its additional merger and acquisition (M&A) plans following the launch of the merged entity between SK Broadband and 티브로드 (T-Broad), stating that it will "focus on creating merger synergies."
On the 7th, Ha Hyung-il, Head of SK Telecom's Corporate 2 Center, said during a conference call held after the first-quarter earnings announcement, "We will specifically announce the plans of the merged entity through a separate meeting before the next quarter's earnings release," adding, "SK Broadband will focus on creating synergies from the merger with 티브로드 (T-Broad)."
He explained, "The merged entity SK Broadband, launched on April 30, has become a media platform business with 8.21 million paid broadcasting subscribers and 6.48 million high-speed internet subscribers, and plans to achieve annual sales exceeding 4 trillion KRW this year," further stating, "Along with accelerating the subscriber base, the advancement of the media platform and expansion of business models are expected to simultaneously strengthen the competitiveness of IPTV and cable TV services."

Meanwhile, SK Telecom, the first among the three major domestic telecom companies to announce first-quarter earnings, posted quarterly results of 4.4504 trillion KRW in sales and 302 billion KRW in operating profit.
