"Well Spent Gyeonggi Disaster Income"… Flood of Reviews and 인증샷 of 'Thanks, Memories, Filial Piety'
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] #1 I am Yoon Jin Lee, a pregnant woman in her 30s expecting my second child. Currently, due to COVID-19, my husband's job is unstable and we are facing financial difficulties, so I was worried about what to do, but Governor Lee Jae-myung's bold policy has given me some relief. Due to social distancing, I stayed home with my older child, and only purchased what seemed absolutely necessary, such as a car seat and pacifiers. (My child went out briefly to use the disaster basic income and was very happy.ㅠ I also felt a bit relieved.ㅠ) With the remaining amount, I plan to buy fruits that I hesitated to buy because they were expensive, as well as snacks and toys for my child. I am truly grateful, and I know you must be working hard for the citizens, so please take care of your meals and be careful of COVID-19! I hope this pandemic ends soon so that everyone can move freely and children can run and play in society.
#2 I am YouKyung Kim, a housewife in my 40s and a freelance instructor. Since February, classes have been suspended, which has been tough. I have four children. Thankfully, I received a lot of support funds this time. Since the school opening was postponed, I mainly use it for grocery shopping. For the second year, I have been caring for my father in the hospital, and today I went to a Korean medicine clinic to get herbal medicine for my mother, who has been struggling. Because of COVID-19, I haven't been able to visit her properly since February, and the only time I see her is briefly in the hospital lobby, which weighs heavily on my heart.ㅠ She seems to be getting more depressed these days. I am very thankful that I could give her a gift with the Gyeonggi-do disaster basic income. In fact, I have been using the Gyeonggi local currency since last year, and not only the Osakjeon of Osan where I live but also the local currencies of Hwaseong and Suwon, which I often visit, have been issued and used. It seems to help the household a lot.
#3 I am Yoon Su-jin, a mother in her late 30s. These days, many places are suffering due to COVID-19, and one of them seems to be flower farms. They usually grow flowers and sell a lot during graduation and entrance seasons, but they reportedly had almost no income. In our area, flower farmers come out directly to the streets or rent stores for a month or two to sell flowers very cheaply. I bought flowers both to gift and to help the flower farmers. Thanks to the Gyeonggi-do disaster basic income, I bought flowers for the first time in a long while and helped the flower farmers, killing two birds with one stone~ The remaining amount will be used to prepare books, educational materials, clothes, and food ingredients for the children^^
The disaster basic income of 100,000 KRW per person provided by Gyeonggi-do to residents is opening a new horizon of 'good consumption.' Since the 20th of last month, Gyeonggi-do has been running the 'Wise Consumption Life Usage Certification EVENT,' where many reviews and certification photos of the disaster basic income usage have been posted.
A pregnant woman worried about her husband's job due to COVID-19 expressed gratitude, saying the Gyeonggi disaster income was a ray of light in her bleak life. A 40-something freelance instructor with four children shared a thankful story about buying herbal medicine for her mother, who is exhausted from caring for her father. There was also a heartwarming story about buying flowers with the Gyeonggi disaster income to help flower farmers hit hard by COVID-19.
The Gyeonggi disaster income is also proving to be a great support for young people facing employment difficulties.
A young man in his 30s, Kim Purin, introduced himself and said, "Did you receive it through Gyeonggi local currency?? I couldn't get a job and couldn't meet friends well, so I was very depressed, but I met friends after a long time, got comforted, ate delicious food, and healed." He added, "I didn't know about the Gyeonggi local currency, but when I checked the homepage, if you charge 100,000 KRW, you get a 10,000 KRW incentive. That's really good. I will use it even better now," posting this message.
There was also a story about using the Gyeonggi disaster income to buy a chair for a daughter who suddenly grew taller.
Mr. Song Ki-jin, in his 40s, said, "My daughter, a 6th grader in elementary school, grew a lot during this vacation, and with online classes and COVID-19, she spends a lot of time sitting at her desk. The chair I bought when she entered elementary school became too small, so I looked for a student chair that supports good posture, but the price was quite high." He continued, "I bought a chair for my daughter with this Gyeonggi disaster basic income, thinking she would use it until high school. I ordered and paid at a local furniture store last week, and received delivery today. I am happily posting this certification," he said.
There was also a housewife who replaced her kitchen sink to relieve the stress accumulated from staying home with her two children due to COVID-19.
Ms. Kim Ok-joo said, "I applied for and received the disaster income via credit card and replaced the sink." She added, "I relieved the stress of staying home with my child by replacing the sink. Haha, I used the disaster income gratefully," posting her thanks.
There was also a story that caught attention about making memories with family using the Gyeonggi basic income.
Ms. Cho Mi-sook, in her 40s with two sons, said, "I bought jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) from a small Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood for my son who loves it, and he was very happy. It was meaningful as it was a rare dining out and we made memories with delicious jjajangmyeon." She added, "The restaurant owner said it was very hard these days but was thankful to increase sales.^^ It helps small business owners and family finances, killing two birds with one stone," sharing her usage review.
Ms. Jeon Ye-ri also said, "I bought a birthday cake for my husband at a local bakery with the Gyeonggi disaster income," adding, "It was so nice to spend time celebrating together as a family," posting her message.
Among the posts, there were also messages expressing hope that such events never happen again, even though it was nice to receive free money.
Mr. Kang Ji-won, in his early 50s, said, "This is the first time in my life that I have received money from the government," adding, "It's nice to receive money, but I hope such an event (COVID-19) never happens again. I enjoyed pizza deliciously with my family," posting his message.
Besides these, residents posted various stories, including buying books to nourish their minds with the Gyeonggi disaster income, and a heartbreaking story of using the disaster basic income for nursing care costs after their father fell, resulting in lower body paralysis and wearing a cast while staying in a nursing hospital.
Gyeonggi-do is running the 'Wise Consumption Life Usage Certification EVENT,' where residents who use the disaster basic income and post reviews and certification photos can win good gifts through a lottery.
