Russia Reports Over 10,000 New COVID-19 Cases for Two Consecutive Days
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] In Russia, the number of new daily confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has exceeded 10,000 for two consecutive days.
On the 4th, the Russian government announced, "In the past day, 10,581 additional confirmed cases were reported across 82 regions nationwide, including Moscow," adding, "The cumulative number of confirmed cases has risen to 145,268."
In the capital city Moscow alone, 5,795 new confirmed cases were reported, increasing the total infections to 74,401. Nationwide, the number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 76 in one day, reaching 1,356.
Russia's cumulative confirmed COVID-19 cases rank seventh in the world, following Germany.

The Russian government expects the rapid increase in COVID-19 infections to continue at least until mid-month and is maintaining restrictive measures such as paid leave for workers and self-quarantine for residents in most cities until the 11th. If the surge does not subside, there is a possibility that these restrictions will be extended.
