[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Sejong Center for the Performing Arts will live stream the Seoul Opera Company's Opera Matinee Season 2 'Opera Toktok - Mozart' on Naver TV at 7:30 PM on the 5th.
This is part of the 'Cheer Up Concert' project, a no-audience live streaming performance presented by Sejong Center to offer comfort to citizens weary from the COVID-19 pandemic and to support those participating in the social distancing 'Pause for a Moment' campaign. Following the March 'Opera Toktok - Rossini' episode, the Seoul Opera Company will hold its second no-audience live streaming performance. 'Opera Toktok - Rossini' received great response, achieving 15,000 views.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed works across various genres including symphonies, concertos, religious music, and vocal music, but he also demonstrated outstanding ability in opera composition. Starting to compose operas at age 11, he created 22 operatic works during his short 35-year life. Among these, operas composed in his later years such as 'The Marriage of Figaro,' 'Don Giovanni,' 'Cos? fan tutte,' and 'The Magic Flute' remain representative works of Mozart and are frequently performed to this day.
In Opera Toktok - Mozart, audiences can explore the background and efforts behind Mozart being called a genius, the concert tours that served as a foundation for his growth, a reexamination of the relationship between Mozart and Salieri as portrayed in the film 'Amadeus,' and stories about his representative operas. Additionally, outstanding vocalists actively performing on domestic and international opera stages, including sopranos Hansook So and Jiyoung Byun, mezzo-soprano Yoonhee Kim, tenor Jaeil Kim, baritone Chiyoung Kim, and bass-baritone Kyungsik Woo, will appear to enrich the stage.
