Jeonbuk Province, All-Out Effort to Secure National Budget and Resolve Current Issues

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] While Song Ha-jin, Governor of Jeonbuk Province, is busy running around central government departments and the National Assembly to secure national budget for Jeonbuk's great leap forward, on the 4th, Woo Beom-gi, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs, visited the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Jeonbuk Province announced on the 4th that since the government's 3rd supplementary budget for post-COVID recovery, including economic recovery after COVID-19, is expected to be submitted to the National Assembly in early June, it is focusing all efforts on reflecting the 3rd supplementary budget and securing budget in the environmental sector directly related to the quality of life of residents, as well as resolving current issues.
On that day, Deputy Governor Woo Beom-gi met with directors and bureau chiefs of the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to explain the necessity of national funding support for Jeonbuk Province's pending projects and actively requested their inclusion.
First, visiting the Ministry of Environment, he requested the inclusion of 7.7 billion KRW for the ‘Smart Pipeline Management Infrastructure Construction’ to establish real-time water quality monitoring and rapid response infrastructure as a fundamental measure to prevent recurrence after the Incheon red tap water incident, and 900 million KRW for the ‘Jeonju Area Wide Water Supply Dual Line Project.’ He also requested the inclusion of the smooth water supply to the Saemangeum area and the change of the water supply system in Jeongeup City in the ‘2035 National Water Supply Maintenance Basic Plan.’
Additionally, he requested the lifting of the park zone designation of Naejang Reservoir, a natural environment district of Naejangsan National Park, to enable year-round tourism linked with the tourism belt around Naejangsan.
Next, to reflect the 3rd supplementary budget proposal this year, he visited the Ministry of Economy and Finance and requested the inclusion of 1 billion KRW for design service costs necessary for the ‘RE (Renewable Energy) 100 Complex Construction’ as Saemangeum is an optimal site for attracting renewable energy companies and creating jobs. He also requested 1 billion KRW for the ‘Saemangeum Secondary Battery Material and Component Direct Complex Construction’ to establish an automotive secondary battery upstream and downstream industry hub in the Saemangeum area.
The province plans to set the special national budget activity period until the 31st, the budget submission deadline of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and concentrate its administrative capabilities on securing the national budget.
