Nowon-gu Supports Up to 1.2 Million KRW for Replacing Defective Old Signs
Up to 1.2 Million KRW Support for Replacing Defective Old Signs on Building Walls up to 3 Floors... For Businesses Complying with Outdoor Advertising Installation Guidelines
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Nowon-gu (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) is providing financial support for the replacement of defective and aged signs to improve the urban landscape.
The support targets defective and aged signs installed on building walls of three stories or less that do not comply with sign installation regulations, providing up to 1.2 million KRW per sign per business.
The total project budget is 24 million KRW and will be available until the budget is exhausted. However, new businesses, businesses that have replaced signs within the sign improvement project area, and sign installations due to business type changes are excluded.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the district office or by mail. Required documents include the sign replacement support application form, original color design of the advertisement, before-and-after installation photos, a copy of the advertiser’s bankbook, and a copy of the business license. The before-and-after photos should be taken with a digital camera, saved as jpg files, and submitted via email to the person in charge at yhee105@
nowon.go.kr.
Applicants must first consult with the Korea Outdoor Advertising Center (www.ooh.or.kr) for sign design advice.
When installing signs supported by this program, the wall sign installation standards require that the sign width be within 80% of the storefront width, with a maximum width of 10 meters. The height must be 45 cm or less for three-dimensional signs and 80 cm or less for flat signs, complying with outdoor advertising installation guidelines.
This project aims to encourage voluntary participation from small business owners who have been passive about illegal sign maintenance, contributing to regional economic revitalization through sign replacement and creating a pleasant urban street landscape.
Since 2017, the district has been conducting a defective and aged individual sign maintenance project, increasing the support amount from 800,000 KRW per business to 1.2 million KRW last year.
Over the past three years, approximately 28 million KRW has been provided to 27 businesses.
