[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Korean Air announced on the 24th that it received the highest grade, the Diamond Award, at the '2020 Air Cargo Excellence Awards' hosted by Air Cargo World, a U.S. aviation logistics magazine.
Founded in 1942, Air Cargo World is a globally recognized logistics magazine that has been selecting and announcing the best air cargo logistics airlines and airports annually since 2005. Korean Air previously won this award in 2015 and 2016.
Korean Air explained that the Air Cargo Excellence Awards are significant because actual customers of airlines, such as shippers and forwarders, directly evaluate and award based on customer service quality, punctuality, supply capacity, and network competitiveness.
Last year, Korean Air introduced a new cargo system, providing a one-stop service covering the entire process from cargo reservation to sales, transportation, and import management. Additionally, it has continuously pursued improvements in cargo service quality, including obtaining the international standard certification (IATA CEIV-PHARMA) that certifies expertise in pharmaceutical air cargo transportation.
In particular, Korean Air is expanding cargo supply reduced by the decrease in international passenger routes by recently using passenger aircraft as dedicated cargo planes, while also increasing the transportation of pharmaceuticals, including COVID-19 diagnostic kits.
