"Please Use It for Neighbors in Need"... Flood of Donations for Gyeonggi-do Disaster Basic Income
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] There is a flood of cases where residents of Gyeonggi-do are donating their 'Gyeonggi-do Disaster Basic Income' of 100,000 KRW per person to help neighbors in need.
Gyeonggi-do announced that as of midnight on the 23rd, 234 million KRW (2,351 cases) in donations have been collected since accepting donations along with online applications for the Disaster Basic Income starting from 3 PM on the 9th.
An official from the province explained, "The Gyeonggi-do Disaster Basic Income is provided as local currency to be spent temporarily to revitalize the local economy, but we respect the will of residents who want to give up their share for those in greater need, so we are accepting donations."
The province plans to continue accepting donations along with online applications until the 30th.
Residents who wish to donate their Disaster Basic Income can do so by visiting the dedicated page for the 'Disaster Basic Income Sharing Campaign' on the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Community Chest website (https://gg.chest.or.kr) and donating any desired amount via credit card, mobile phone, or online bank transfer.
