Patent Office Provides Special Support for Trade Secret Protection to Diagnostic, Treatment, and Quarantine Companies
[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) announced on the 21st that it will diagnose the trade secret management status of small and medium-sized enterprises producing COVID-19-related diagnostic kits, therapeutics, and quarantine supplies, and provide special support such as free on-site corporate training and waiving trade secret original certification service fees.
This measure comes in response to the rapidly increasing overseas demand for domestically produced diagnostic kits and quarantine supplies, which currently hold a technological advantage, raising the risk of trade secret leakage related to these products.
KIPO is accepting applications for the 'Special Support for Trade Secret Protection' until the 29th, primarily targeting member companies of associations such as the Korea Pharmaceutical and Bio-Pharma Manufacturers Association and the Korea Medical Devices Industry Association, where these companies mainly belong.
Among the applicants, small enterprises will be given priority support, and if the planned support quota is not met, medium-sized enterprises will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis to receive support starting from the 7th of next month.
Further details and application procedures regarding the special support for trade secret protection can be obtained through the Trade Secret Protection Center of the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency.
