7 Research Labs Including Seoul National University and KAIST Join Software Star Lab
[Asia Economy Reporter Seol Gina Jo] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 21st that a total of seven laboratories from four universities, including Korea University, Seoul National University, Soongsil University, and Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), were finally selected for the '2020 Software Star Lab.' The competition rate was 6 to 1, higher than the previous year's 4.5 to 1.
The Software Star Lab project supports securing basic and fundamental technologies in five core software technology fields and fostering master's and doctoral-level software talents who will lead software innovation.
Since 2015, a total of 29 laboratories from nine universities have been selected and operated, with an average annual support of 300 million KRW per laboratory. This year, seven new laboratories were selected, bringing the total number of Software Star Labs to 36.
