View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Education announced that on the 21st at 3:30 PM, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Yoo Eun-hye held a remote meeting at the request of Hussein Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This meeting focused on sharing South Korea's experience with remote classes to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and discussing educational cooperation measures between the two countries. The UAE plans to conduct remote education until the end of the academic year under a three-semester system (1st semester: September to December, 2nd semester: January to March, 3rd semester: April to early July).
Minister Hussein inquired about the process of implementing online school openings and the operation status of remote classes. Deputy Prime Minister Yoo explained, "To prioritize students' safety and health while maximizing their right to learn, we introduced online school openings gradually starting from the 9th for 3rd-year high school and 3rd-year middle school students." She added, "Although there were areas to improve since this was the first experience, most students have participated in remote classes with high attendance rates."

She also emphasized, "The understanding and cooperation of teachers and parents on the ground, as well as students' high proficiency in using information devices and active participation, were great strengths." Along with this, she introduced policies such as lending smart devices, supporting internet communication fees, providing customized learning for students vulnerable to remote education, and strengthening teachers' information and communication technology capabilities.
