[Exclusive] Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Requests Korean Air to Suspend Domestic Beverage Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] It was confirmed on the 15th that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport requested Korean Air to suspend beverage service on domestic flights to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
In response to the Ministry's request, Korean Air decided to suspend beverage service on all domestic flights starting from the 16th.
According to the Ministry and industry sources on the 15th, the Ministry recently sent an official letter to Korean Air asking to stop providing beverages such as water, carbonated drinks, and coffee on domestic flights to minimize passengers removing their masks.
This is interpreted as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections onboard, especially as warmer weather may increase the number of domestic flight passengers.
Accordingly, starting from the 16th, Korean Air will not carry any beverages or related service items, including water, carbonated drinks, coffee, and green tea, on domestic flights.
