Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation, Future Industry Talent Scholarship Audition Selection

[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced that it will hold the '2020 OnDream Future Industry Talent Scholarship Audition' to nurture talents who will lead future industries.

The selection fields are divided into three categories: intelligent information technology (AI, blockchain, cloud, IoT, etc.), biohealth (healthcare, genetic recombination, bioreactor, etc.), and new energy industries (hydrogen energy, smart grid, climate change response, etc.). Eligibility is limited to 2nd and 3rd-year undergraduate students and new or current graduate students in master's, doctoral, or integrated master's and doctoral programs at major domestic universities.

Selected scholars will receive full tuition coverage until graduation along with a learning support allowance each semester. Additionally, various supports to enhance scholars' capabilities will be provided, including expense support for participation in international academic conferences abroad, living expense support when advancing to prestigious overseas universities, and the 'Global Excellence Scholar Award' for outstanding academic achievements such as being the first author of SCI-level papers.

Beyond financial support, the foundation offers comprehensive programs for scholars' growth, such as the OnDream Scholars Summer Camp, OnDream University (Graduate) Student Academic Seminars, support for OnDream Friends activities, and opportunities to attend various cultural and artistic performances. The plan is to help scholars become competitive future talents equipped not only with academic achievements but also with a sense of community and character.

Application documents must be submitted by the 29th of this month, and interviews will be conducted sequentially from May 19 for the first-round successful candidates. After major and personality interviews, the final successful candidates will be selected in June.

In particular, the foundation plans to prepare the best measures to ensure fair selection while prioritizing the health of applicants, such as changing the interview method if social distancing due to COVID-19 continues.

The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation was established in 2007 with a private donation from Chung Mong-Koo, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group. Based on the founder's philosophy of social contribution, it operates specialized activities under the brand 'OnDream' in the fields of nurturing future talents, supporting marginalized groups, and promoting culture and arts as a ladder of dreams and hope.
