Jeong Byeong-seon, 1st Vice Minister, On-site Inspection of COVID-19 Ward Preparation
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] Jeong Byeong-seon, the 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences on the 3rd to inspect the preparations for treating patients with the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Vice Minister Jeong inspected the isolation ward for COVID-19 patients. The main hospital in Seoul plans to convert part of the National Radiation Emergency Medical Center's isolation ward into negative pressure rooms to accommodate and treat confirmed cases starting from the 6th.
Vice Minister Jeong then received a report from the hospital's COVID-19 response headquarters on the operation status of a 24-hour dedicated team composed of volunteer doctors, nurses, and emergency medical technicians, as well as the securing of therapeutic agents.

Vice Minister Jeong stated, "We must do our best to prevent infections among healthcare workers fighting on the front lines of the COVID-19 response," and added, "The Ministry of Science and ICT will also make efforts to improve protective equipment such as goggles and masks."
