Seoul Reports 28 New COVID-19 Cases... 17 at Guro Manmin Church, 8 from Overseas Arrivals

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Due to the group infection at Guro Manmin Central Church and the influx of overseas entrants, the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul increased by 28 again in one day.
As of 10 a.m. on the 31st, Seoul City announced that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 454. Compared to the count as of midnight on the 30th, the number of confirmed cases related to Manmin Church increased by 17, and those infected through overseas contact increased by 8.
Looking at the residences of the 28 new patients, 2 were from Guro-gu, where Manmin Central Church is located; 4, 6, and 4 were from neighboring districts Gwanak-gu, Geumcheon-gu, and Dongjak-gu, respectively. Yongsan-gu, which has many international students, had 4 cases; Seocho-gu had 2; and Gangdong-gu, Songpa-gu, and Jung-gu each had 1 case.
Among those tested in Guro-gu, 2 were citizens of Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, and among those tested in Yongsan-gu, 1 was a citizen of Cheonan, Chungnam Province; these cases were also counted as Seoul cases according to their reported locations.
Among the 8 new patients infected through overseas contact, the United States accounted for the most with 5 cases, followed by the United Kingdom with 3 cases.
The new patient in Jung-gu was identified as a 56-year-old doctor. It is presumed that he was infected through contact with a 55-year-old woman residing in Seocho-gu who developed symptoms after returning from the United States.
Accordingly, as of 10 a.m. on the 31st, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul reached 454 according to Seoul City's count. This number is 4 more than the count by the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as of midnight that day.

So far, there have been no deaths among confirmed COVID-19 patients in Seoul; 107 patients have recovered and been discharged, while the remaining 347 are undergoing isolation treatment.
