Megabox to Screen Verdi Opera 'Rigoletto'
[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] Megabox will exclusively screen the opera "Rigoletto" from April 5 to May 27 through its curation brand "Classic Society."
The version of Rigoletto being screened this time is a live performance video from the Bregenz Festival in July last year.
The Bregenz Festival is the world's first floating opera festival held on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria, formed by melting glaciers of the Alps. The beautiful music harmonizes with the lake, offering a mesmerizing experience. In particular, the floating stage on the lake, created by combining the latest technology and artistic imagination, attracts great attention every time it is unveiled.
The opera "Rigoletto," first performed at the Bregenz Festival, is considered one of the masterpieces by the opera maestro Giuseppe Verdi. It is a socially critical opera set in 16th-century Italy, depicting the tragic life of the court jester "Rigoletto," who tries to punish the decadent aristocratic society but ends up causing the death of his own daughter.
The tragic protagonist "Rigoletto" was passionately performed by Vladimir Stoyanov, with Melissa Petit as Rigoletto's daughter "Gilda," and Stefan Costello as the womanizing "Duke of Mantua." Additionally, the notable domestic tenor Hyunduk Kim joins the stage, capturing the attention of opera fans.
The direction and stage design of this circus-themed production were handled by the famous German film director Philipp St?lzl. St?lzl gained fame for producing music videos for the global pop star Madonna and directed films such as "North Face" and "Physician."

The opera "Rigoletto" will be screened at seven Megabox locations nationwide, including COEX, Central, Mokdong, KINTEX, Bundang, Seongsu, and Namchuncheon, with a running time of 130 minutes. The basic ticket price is 30,000 KRW, and Classic Society membership holders receive a 10% discount. However, discount conditions vary by location.
