[Exclusive] BTS Side "Some Malicious Commenters Fined... Additional Lawsuits Ongoing, No Leniency"
"Planning to Protect Artists More Strictly"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Su-wan] A malicious commenter who spread defamatory remarks and false information about the group BTS has been sentenced to a fine.
On the 30th, the agency Big Hit Entertainment stated, "Based on evidence collected through reports from fans and our own monitoring, we have submitted multiple complaints to investigative authorities. The authorities have identified several suspects, some of whom have been definitively sentenced to fines, while investigations on others are ongoing."
They continued, "Due to requests from the investigative authorities, it is difficult to disclose specific details about the investigation process, progress, or penalties, but we inform you that punishments are being carried out sequentially. Some suspects have appointed representatives to offer apologies and request settlements, but under no circumstances will settlements or leniency be granted," emphasizing their stance.
Furthermore, "We have submitted complaints based on newly secured malicious posts this year, and the authorities have recently initiated formal investigations. Additional complaints have been filed against individuals who continue malicious behavior despite previous legal actions," the agency added.
Finally, "We will continue to take legal action regularly and continuously based on reports from fans and our own monitoring. Starting this year, we plan to shorten the legal response cycle according to internally established procedures to protect our artists more strictly. We ask for active reports through Big Hit’s legal response account," they concluded.
