Launch of the 'Minsheng Economy Revitalization Task Force' in Buk-gu, Gwangju
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) announced on the 29th that it has launched the ‘Buk-gu Livelihood Economy Revitalization Task Force’ to recover the local economy, which has been stagnated due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
This task force was organized to align with the recently formed ‘Gwangju Emergency Economic Countermeasures Meeting’ by Gwangju City, to share support measures for small business owners from the central government and Gwangju City, and to prepare and implement the district’s own support plans.
Starting this month, Buk-gu will undertake a large-scale economic crisis response centered on eight tasks across four major areas: economic support, livelihood support, administrative support, and daily life support, involving 23 departments and 27 neighborhoods.
First, to provide management funds to small business owners and SMEs affected by COVID-19, the district will actively promote Gwangju City’s ‘3-No (No Collateral, No Interest, No Guarantee Fee) Special Loans’ and various government financial support policies.
Additionally, through the Dong Administrative Welfare Centers, applications for Gwangju-type three major emergency livelihood funds?household emergency living expenses, special employment livelihood expenses, and unemployment/leave living expenses?will be received without delay to focus on stabilizing the lives of households in crisis.
Along with this, using various promotional media, the district will spread the atmosphere of participation in the ‘Good Rent Movement,’ and support projects will be carried out simultaneously, including a maximum 1 million KRW reduction in property tax (building portion) for July for landlords participating in the Good Rent Movement, rent reductions for district-owned facilities, and freezing of public utility fees in autonomous districts.
