Gwangju City to Reduce Agricultural Machinery Rental Fees Starting Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 29th that it will reduce agricultural machinery rental fees from next month 1st to the end of July to support farmers facing difficulties due to COVID-19 during the farming season.
In response to the global spread of COVID-19 causing disruptions in the entry of foreign workers, leading to a shortage of labor during the farming season and expected delays in farming activities, the city decided to actively address labor shortages by promoting the use of agricultural machinery through rental fee reductions.
Any farmer in the jurisdiction can receive a full waiver of the daily rental fee when using rental agricultural machinery from the city's Agricultural Technology Center. However, if the same type of agricultural machinery is rented for more than two days, the rental fee will be charged normally from the second day onward.
The city's Agricultural Technology Center operates two agricultural machinery rental offices in Pyeong-dong, Gwangsan-gu, and Yonggang-dong, Buk-gu, renting out 444 units of 68 types of machinery including tractors, cultivators, and management machines.
