On the 29th, LG Uplus announced that it jointly purchased eco-friendly agricultural products from farms supplying school meals, which have been struggling due to the spread of COVID-19 and the delay of school openings, and provided lunchboxes to low-income children in Yongsan-gu.
With school openings postponed due to COVID-19, farms supplying school meals have suffered a sharp drop in sales and are facing difficulties such as plowing under crops. LG Uplus held a joint purchase event for eco-friendly agricultural products from farms in Chungbuk, and decided that the company would purchase an additional amount equal to the quantity bought by employees (1+1) to donate. The eco-friendly agricultural product packages consisted of three types: spinach, green onions, mushrooms, antibiotic-free eggs, and small apples. The agricultural product packages purchased by the company will be delivered to elderly people living alone in small room villages.
During the joint purchase event for eco-friendly agricultural product packages from farms in Jeonnam, which was held until the 24th, employees purchased about 200 packages, showing high enthusiasm, leading to a second joint purchase event with Chungbuk Nonghyup. Kim Seok-ki, head of Jeonnam Nonghyup, said, "The difficulties faced by farms supplying school meals continue due to the COVID-19 situation," and added, "This joint purchase of eco-friendly agricultural product packages by LG Uplus employees will be a great help to farmers facing hardships."
