[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has reportedly entered self-quarantine after coming into contact with a confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to foreign media including GMA News on the 28th, Senator Christopher Go stated that President Duterte decided to self-quarantine until the 7th of next month after a lawmaker who attended a meeting at the presidential palace on the 21st tested positive for COVID-19.
Senator Go said, "President Duterte, who turned 75 on the 28th, has only one wish: for the Filipino people to stay at home and properly observe quarantine."
Salvador Panelo, presidential palace spokesperson, announced that President Duterte will continue to perform his duties during the self-quarantine period.
