Jang Se-il, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Announces 'Gwangju~Yeonggwang Intercity Direct Bus to Pass Through Gwangju Songjeong Station'
Improving Transportation Convenience for Locals and KTX Passengers by Adding Stopover Points
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] With the addition of Gwangju Songjeong Station (KTX transfer station) as a stop on the Gwangju~Yeonggwang intercity direct bus route, the convenience for passengers using the KTX and local residents is expected to greatly improve.
On the 27th, Jang Se-il, a member of the Safety, Construction, and Fire Committee of the Jeollanam-do Provincial Council, announced, "The 'Application for Change of Passenger Automobile Transportation Business Plan' to add Gwangju Songjeong Station (KTX transfer station) as a stop on the existing Gwangju~Yeonggwang intercity direct bus route has been approved by Jeollanam-do."
Until now, Gwangju Songjeong Station was not included as a stop on the six Gwangju~Yeonggwang intercity direct bus routes (68 round trips per day), causing inconvenience to passengers using the KTX and local residents who had to endure transfer and additional transportation costs.
To resolve this issue, Assemblyman Jang continuously requested Jeonnam Province and Kumho Express to add the stop, and with Gwangju Songjeong Station now included as a stop, tourists visiting Gwangju and Jeonnam via KTX and local residents can enjoy convenient public transportation services.
Assemblyman Jang stated, "Considering the public transportation convenience and social overhead costs that local residents will gain from this change in the Gwangju~Yeonggwang intercity direct bus stops, route stop expansions should continue to be applied," adding, "I plan to continue improving public transportation policies from the perspective of transportation-vulnerable groups."
