Jangseong-gun Urgently Allocates Budget... Full Effort to Revive the Livelihood Economy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Gilsu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is preparing an emergency budget to stimulate the economy, which has been depressed due to the spread of COVID-19, and to stabilize the livelihood of its residents.
The county plans to formulate an emergency supplementary budget early next month and execute it promptly.
According to the county on the 27th, 4.8 billion KRW has been allocated for disaster emergency living expenses and support for recipients and near-poor residents.
For disaster emergency living expenses, a budget of 3.4 billion KRW has been established to provide differentiated payments of 300,000 KRW for 1-2 person households with median income below 100%, 400,000 KRW for 3-4 person households, and 500,000 KRW for households with five or more members.
Additionally, 1.4 billion KRW has been allocated for the ‘Temporary Living Support Project for Low-Income Groups’ aimed at recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security and legally designated near-poor classes.
Along with this, Jangseong-gun will support small business owners with annual sales under 300 million KRW by subsidizing public utility fees up to 300,000 KRW (100,000 KRW per month for three months), totaling 600 million KRW.
Other initiatives include 800 million KRW for the ‘Temporary Childcare Support Project’ for recipients of child allowances for children under seven years old, 46 million KRW in living and business stabilization support funds for taxi workers struggling due to reduced transportation income, and continuous discovery of new projects by sector to expand the ‘Jangseong-gun Type Livelihood Support.’
The support will be provided through Jangseong Love Gift Certificates, prepaid cards, cash, or other payment methods depending on the project. To achieve immediate consumption effects, the county plans to set the usage period of the support funds within three months.
Yoo Doo-seok, the mayor of Jangseong-gun, stated, “We will do our best to ensure that residents can feel the effects of livelihood stabilization in a short period through financial support,” and added, “We will strive to alleviate the suffering of residents caused by the COVID-19 crisis as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, the county also formulated a supplementary budget of about 33 billion KRW, including livelihood budgets related to COVID-19, on the 25th.
