"Lifetime Jobs for Multicultural Families"…Incheon City Supports Vocational Training with 'Happy Job Project'
Obtaining Certifications such as Barista, Korean Cuisine Cooking Technician, and Baking Technician
Employment Connection to Childcare Facilities and Provision of Stable Jobs
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is promoting the 'Happy Job Project' to enable multicultural families to have lifelong employment.
The city announced on the 27th that it will provide practical self-reliance support through vocational training to help multicultural families facing economic difficulties due to job loss caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) secure stable jobs rather than temporary support.
Accordingly, the city plans to include the project budget in this supplementary budget and, once the COVID-19 crisis alert level is lifted, connect about 24,000 multicultural families in the region to professional training institutions to provide them with opportunities to participate in various vocational training courses.
The training courses mainly include programs where participants can acquire professional certifications and skills such as extended class childcare teacher, barista, Korean cuisine cooking technician, baking technician, and wallpapering technician. These fields were the most preferred in a demand survey for employment education programs conducted last year targeting marriage immigrants.
The city plans to help female marriage immigrants who obtain certifications through vocational training courses utilize their bilingual abilities by enabling them to work as childcare support teachers in childcare facilities (such as daycare centers), providing language education, and assisting with meal and snack preparation.
In particular, female marriage immigrants and their spouses who have been in long-term unemployment will be actively encouraged to acquire wallpapering skills so that they can be immediately deployed to the job market after completing the training.
