COVID-19 'Serological Test Diagnostic Kit' Released
[Asia Economy Reporter Junho Hwang] A kit capable of diagnosing COVID-19 through serological testing is being developed. A technology that increases the productivity of microdisplays, which are attracting attention as the next-generation display following OLED, by 100 to 1000 times compared to existing methods will also be commercialized.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT on the 27th, the leaders of the Global Frontier Project research groups announced these research achievements during a meeting with Jeong Byeong-seon, the 1st Vice Minister, on the 27th.
The meeting was organized to share the research results of the Global Frontier Project, which has been promoted since 2010 with the goal of securing world-class original technologies in five major future strategic fields, and to explore commercialization plans.
Shin Yong-beom, head of the Bio Nano Health Guard Research Group, presented the Health Guard (H-GUARD) system, which can monitor national disaster-type diseases and new viruses, and enable early detection and diagnosis.
Shin said, "We have secured four types of COVID-19 antigens with high sensitivity and are conducting clinical tests on the diagnostic kit," adding, "Once the clinical tests are completed, we plan to apply for emergency approval of the immunoserological test kit through the diagnostic companies we are collaborating with."
He added, "We are researching technology that can accurately and early detect the presence of pathogens in suspected infection areas, targeting COVID-19."
Lee Hak-joo, head of the Wave Energy Extreme Control Research Group, introduced the 'Micro LED Roll Transfer Technology,' which can dramatically improve the productivity of micro LED displays, recognized as the next-generation display following OLED. Using this technology, micro LEDs can be stamped like printing a woodblock print with roller ink. Lee said, "By developing a core process technology that selectively transfers micro LED elements onto circuit substrates, we expect to secure world-class transfer speed and transfer area," and added, "Productivity is expected to increase by 100 to 1000 times compared to existing technologies."
