China Reports 55 New COVID-19 Cases... All but One Imported from Abroad (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] On the 26th, China reported 55 new COVID-19 confirmed cases and 5 additional deaths in one day.
On the 27th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 55 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were added. Except for one additional confirmed case in Zhejiang Province, 54 cases were imported infections from overseas entering China.
Imported confirmed cases were reported in Shanghai (17), Guangdong Province (12), Beijing (4), Tianjin (4), Inner Mongolia (3), Zhejiang Province (3), Fujian Province (3), Shandong Province (2), Yunnan Province (2), Liaoning Province (1), Jiangsu Province (1), Sichuan Province (1), and Shanxi Province (1). The total number of imported confirmed cases reported in China so far is 595.
The cumulative total of confirmed COVID-19 cases in China is 81,340. Among them, including the 5 additional deaths on the 26th, 3,292 people have died. Excluding 74,588 recovered and discharged patients, there are currently 3,460 patients confirmed and undergoing treatment. There are 189 suspected cases and 16,005 close contacts under medical observation.

Meanwhile, outside mainland China in the Greater China region, a total of 738 confirmed cases have been reported: Hong Kong 453 (110 discharged, 4 deaths), Macau 33 (10 discharged), and Taiwan 252 (29 discharged, 2 deaths).
